On Oct. 20 Trooper’s Forget-Me-Not Memorial Garden dedication ceremony took place at the Upper Credit Humane Society Shelter at 5383 Trafalgar Road.

Judith-Anne Kolu of the Upper Credit Humane Society said  the ribbon cutting ceremony went very well.

“The blessing was lovely and quite emotional.  Trooper’s parents were on hand at the unveiling of the black lab statue in his honour.”

She added that Patty and Maybelline came out and were part of the ceremony as were several other of the shelter residents.

She added “A new German shepherd got an application and a cute little Boston terrier/French bulldog who had come in as a stray got a home with a lady who is in my garden club who had just lost her two boxers…and came for the memorial service but fell in love with Mickey. Some donations were achieved for the Troopers Fund and two cats adopted so I would say a successful event.”

The Memorial Garden dedicated to Trooper in his name is full circle in addition to the Troopers Fund which was set up to help special needs animals that come through doors of the Upper Credit Humane Society.

The memorial provides a place where members of the community can honour past pets with a special place of remembrance.
