Trees for Mapleton hosting free workshop on Aug. 28.

MAPLETON – A free workshop on tree planting and maintenance and related topics will be held on Aug. 28.

The workshop, to be held at the  Drayton Legion, located at 15 Elms Street, includes presentations on several topics, a light lunch at a field tour at Clovermead Farms.

Topis include:

- Windbreak Economics – how to windbreaks can improve crop yields by 20 per cent;

- Tree planting and maintenance;

- Rural Water Quality Program – cost shares for best management practices on the farm.

The field tour will provide an opportunity to talk with a local forester on Ash management.

The workshop is sponsored by Trees for Mapleton, the Township of Mapleton, the Grand River Conservation Authority, Williams and Associates Forestry Consulting and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
