Tree giveaway a success

Though the local stewardship program may be gone, Wellington County’s Green Legacy Program is still a growing success, says Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj.
The mayor was commenting on the success of the recent Green Legacy tree day in Centre Wellington, where over 7,000 trees were given away.
She said 150 pounds of food were collected and $352 will go to the local food bank.
“Lots of people will be working on their gardens and backyards after a very difficult winter. It was nice to see so many planting activities going on,” said Ross-Zuj.
