Township to buy land for road work
Centre Wellington Township council has authorized Chief Administrative Officer Michael Wood to develop an agreement to purchase a small amount of land at the intersection of Victoria and Metcalfe Streets.
The land is owned by Susan McPhedran.
The area where the purchase is taking place is currently under major construction as part of the work on the Metcalfe Street bridge, Metcalfe Street, and parts of South River Road, as well as work at the Armoury Hall, the local LCBO building.
Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj said on Monday night the land will be used as part of the road.
Ross-Zuj explained the construction taking place has required a small amount of land near the first roundabout being built in Wellington County.
Council agreed to the proposal.
