Township: Rumours of poor water quality are bogus

Centre Wellington officials would like to turn off the flow of  a rumour circulating the community.

Last week several individuals contacted the Advertiser concerned about a rumour they heard of high levels of E. coli in municipal water in the Fergus area. On Dec. 20 Centre Wellington officials clarified that those rumours are untrue.

“The township would like to assure the public that the municipal water is safe to drink,” director of infrastructure Colin Baker said in a press release. “Township staff monitors drinking water quality on a daily basis to ensure that municipal water meets provincial standards.”
