Councillors here have approved a site plan for a proposed addition to Centre Peel Public School.

It will be 435 square metres and located at the rear of the existing school. It will include four classrooms and the goal is to remove four portables from the school site on Sixth Line in the former Peel township.

The Upper Grand District School Board did not submit a cost estimate sheet with the site plan drawings, so it is unclear exactly what the addition will cost. The board did not return a phone call from the Advertiser by press time.

Mapleton Chief Building Official Jim Baker noted that the site plan has very good detail on it.

Baker also explained that the addition will be built on somewhat of an angle from the existing building to avoid a nearby well head.
