Township gets share for hosting slots

Ontario Lottery and Gaming last week issued a fourth-quarter (January to March) payment of $539,789 to the Township of Centre Wellington for hosting OLG Slots at Grand River Raceway.

In 2011-12, the province allocated $120 million in gaming revenue to support charities through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

Every year, the government of Ontario allocates funding to the province’s problem gambling program for research, treatment and prevention programs.

The amount for fiscal 2011-12 was budgeted at $41 million.

The township shares the money with Wellington County and uses its share for infrastructure projects.
