When you see local firefighters collecting tolls on the Tower Street bridge here on Oct. 4, be assured it is for a good cause.
On Sept. 22, council adopted a report from municipal clerk Kerri O’Kane recommending council authorize the mayor and clerk to execute a bylaw allowing a toll booth to operate on Oct. 4 from 8am to 4pm by the Fergus fire fighters on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
Earlier this year, council had authorized the fundraiser for Sept. 20, however repairs to the Tower Street bridge by the library required the event to be rescheduled.
