Terrace gets award for organization

Wellington Terrace was recognized with a Service Award for Geriatric Excellence (SAGE) in the organization category, at the eighth annual banquet held here last month.

In a slideshow production, officials revealed Wellington Terrace was selected based on the following criteria:

– an outstanding reputation in the community and is recognized as a true leader in the field of geriatrics;

– the welfare of residents is foremost in the minds of staff.;

– very creative and involved partnerships with elementary, secondary, college, and university students and staff;

– often called upon for consultation by other organizations;

– pioneers in implementing best practices and evaluating their services; and

– suggestions from family members are thoughtfully considered, and if adopted are implemented with care and planning.

Wellington Terrace was also honoured at the 21st annual Guelph Wellington employer recognition event.

That event celebrates outstanding employers for their leadership in providing work experience, training and community placement opportunities for individuals facing employment difficulties or who require workplace experience.

“It is a tremendous honour to receive these awards,” said Peter Barnes, administrator for Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home.

“Staff are committed to enhancing the quality of life for all our residents. This recognition symbolizes the teamwork and loyalty of our staff. I am very proud of the work they do.”
