Suspicious fire under investigation in Puslinch

Police and fire marshal officials are investigating a suspicious fire here last weekend that destroyed a vacant house.

It’s the fourth structure fire in Puslinch Township in the past month.

On April 9 at around 5pm, Wellington County OPP officers, along with fire crews from Puslinch Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Eramosa Fire and Rescue, responded to a structure fire at 7203 Concession 2 in Puslinch Township.

Firefighters from Guelph and Cambridge also arrived at the scene to assist.

Police say a witness in the area observed the fire and called the fire department.

Pusinch Fire Chief Steve Goode said the abandoned building was a total loss and the fire is considered suspicious.

According to an OPP press release, the building is an abandoned residence.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal was notified and attended the scene. The Wellington County OPP, along with West Region OPP Criminal Support Unit and Forensics Identification Services Unit, are also investigating this incident.

Concession 2 between Concession 7 and Concession 2a was closed while firefighters were on scene.
