Students cautioned over AI-generated nude images

GUELPH – Two Guelph high school students were educated about child pornography offences last month after they were found to have used an artificial intelligence program to create nude images of several classmates.

On Jan. 13, Guelph Police learned from a local school administrator about students in possession of images that appeared to depict other students in the nude.

“Investigation revealed two 15-year-old males had used AI to create images of five female students using photos taken from the victims’ social media accounts.” police stated in a press release. “All five are aware of the investigation.”

Police say the two males were remorseful for their actions and have been referred to an educational program through the John Howard Society in lieu of charges.
