Street celebration, fireworks, music and more to highlight Canada Day in northern Wellington

ARTHUR – A Canada Day street celebration is planned in Arthur for July 1.

The Arthur Chamber of Commerce is hosting a street market expected to feature over 25 vendors.

The event will be held on Charles Street East, from 9am to 2pm.

The event will also include entertainment and children’s activities, including face painting, glitter tattoos, science experiments, seed planting, a colouring contest and games.

Performances by Sam N Robin will be staged from 10:15 to 11am and 11:30am to 12:15pm.

The Arthur Optimist Club has a weekend of celebrations planned beginning Friday at the Arthur Community Centre Fairgrounds Park. 

The celebrations kick off with Fresh Horses, a Garth Brooks Tribute band and Johnny Panic and the Pushbuttons. Doors open at 8:30pm. Tickets available at eventbrite.ca

Starting Saturday at 11am, a men’s and mixed 3-pitch tournament will take place, along with a beer garden featuring an on-site DJ and food truck (Born 2 Eat). 

A horseshoe tournament and free swim will start at 1pm, and a meat draw at 2pm. DJ Steve Leask will perform for a 9pm dance and fireworks get under way at dusk. 

On Sunday, the family and local business 3-pitch tournament begins at 10am followed by a cornhole tournament at 1pm. The beer garden and food truck will be on site throughout the day and the 2023 Super Mario Bros. movie will start at dusk.

Family fun and fireworks in Drayton July 1 

DRAYTON – A fun-filled day with lots to do for individuals of all ages is planned for Canada Day in Drayton.

The July 1 event will feature bounce castles, food trucks and a firework celebration at the end of the day.  

The family fun activities will take place at the Drayton Fairgounds, 49 Elm Street, Drayton, from 4 to 7pm.

From 7 to 10pm the MooreBand will perform, followed by fireworks at 10pm.

The Palmerston and Maitland Traditional Scouting Food Booth will be open from 4 to 10pm.

Community Canada Day festival in Harriston 

HARRISTON – Crossroads Life Church is hosting a Canada Day celebration festival on July 1.

The event will be held from 6 to 10:30pm at the field across from the water tower on the corner of Roberston Street and Young Street West in Harriston. 

The free event, which is open to all, will feature live music, family-affordable food and jump houses for youth 12 and under. It wraps up with fireworks at dusk.

Organizers request attendees not bring pets.
