Stolen vehicles

A Palmerston man is one of two charged in connection with two vehicle thefts here this month.

On Aug. 7, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to Line 88 just east of Gowanstown, where a resident observed someone driving around a neighbour’s car that had been stolen the previous day. Police say that as officers responded to the call they observed a pickup truck parked in front of a car behind trees in a field east of Gowanstown.

Officers checked out both vehicles and determined the car had been stolen from a Line 89 residence the previous day, while the pickup was stolen from a farm property in Howick on Aug. 3.

Officers kept observation of the vehicles and shortly thereafter observed two men on a dirt bike approach. One of the men got off the dirt bike while the other fled through fields as he observed officers approach.  The dirt bike operator eluded police but was identified. The male with the vehicles was arrested and a warrant was obtained for the other man.

On Aug. 15, the second male was arrested in Listowel.

Dustin James Lunz, 23, of Palmerston, was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of failing to comply with probation order. He is to appear in court Sept. 19.

Kyle Nathan Moore, 32, of North Perth, was charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, four counts of failing to comply with probation order, and single counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

He was to appear for a video bail hearing on Aug. 18.
