The Palmeston and District Hospital Foundation’s 14th annual Starlight Gala, held at the PMD Arena Complex in Drayton on May 24 will have raised over $155,000 for hospital equipment once all the accounting is finalized organizers project.
Foundation development officer Dale Franklin said the estimated revenue for the event, which includes more than $45,000 raised through a live auction of donated items, was around $213,000.
Last year the event raised about $140,000, which was used to purchase a new colonoscope and gastronscopes for the operating room at the hospital. This year, funds will again go toward equipment, including a bone mineral density machine.
The Grand Luau was the theme of the event, which included after-dinner entertainment by Ed Sullivan’s Cavalcade of Stars.
