PALMERSTON - Across the county, local communities are using simple gestures to thank frontline health care workers for their extraordinary efforts and sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Palmerston, signs and rocks with messages of appreciation have cropped up in front of the Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH).

Local nurses took a moment out of their busy day recently to view and pose with the displays.

“I actually don't know who put these beautiful signs on our front lawn, nor do I know who has been helping to 'grow' our gratitude garden,” said PDH Foundation development officer Dale Franklin.

"However … I know how meaningful these gestures are. Thank you...over and over.”

A "gratitude garden" with hand-painted rocks containing messages of encouragement and appreciation has also started outside the hospital. Submitted photo
