The Raiders Run will be held again this year, albeit with a new name.

The fifth annual event, now  called the Erin Shamrock Shuffle, will be held on May 4 from 8:30 to 11:45am.

Organizer Jamie Hocken said the goal is to raise more money than last year’s total of $4,000. Sixty per cent of the proceeds will go to the East Wellington Advisory Group  (EWAG) and 40% will support Erin District High School athletes, Hocken said.

Sponsors are in place for the event, as are police, who will help ensure safety on town roads, he added.

Council voted unanimously in favour of a bylaw that approves the closure of a portion of Dundas Street and the 10th Line for the event.

The 5km or 10km road race and walk will also feature a free run T-shirt, a pancake breakfast, and great prizes and race kits.

Anyone interested can register online at runningroom.ca or call Brenda at 519-833-9696 ext 230 for more information.
