Wellington North councillor Dan Yake said at a recent council session the Mount Forest sewage treatment plant is up and running.

He said they were planning to divert 100% of the flow as of Nov. 17; the plant was in operation as of last week.

Yake said the tanks are full,  and things seem to be working well, although a few items need to be worked out.

Work has started to decommission the old plant.

Mayor Mike Broomhead asked if the bugs were happy - the ones used in the sewage treatment process.

Yake said they seemed to be but officials are waiting for a few more to show up. “It’s quite an operation.”

Broomhead said, “It’s one project where you want the bugs to get in - not out.”
