A man was sent to hospital in serious condition after a chemical accident at a local business here last week.

On Feb. 10 at about 10:40pm, emergency responders were called to Trimac Transportation Services after what police call “a serious workplace accident.”

Wellington County OPP officers,  Guelph-Wellington EMS and the Guelph Fire Department responded to the call at the business located on Wellington Road 124 in Guelph–Eramosa Township.

“A man was doing repairs to a chemical storage tanker and was exposed to nitric acid,” police said in a press release.

“He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.”

There was no update on his condition by press time. Police say the Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
