The Minto Clifford Public School Parent Council is hosting an event for parents and children on May 7, during Children’s Mental Health Week.

Laurie Pearson, psychological Associate with the Upper Grand District School Board, will speak on “Children’s Mental Health and how to help parents to talk with their kids.”

For the students, author Renna Bruce will be sharing her newest book Jazlyn J and Quick, Quiet Quinn, a story to help children understand that a little kindness and communication can stop bullying before it starts.

The event, which will be held at the school, located at 5804 Hwy. 89, RR 1, Harriston, will run from 6:30 to 7:30pm.

The aims of Children’s Mental Health Week May 5 to 11 include increasing awareness of the signs of mental health problems for children and parents, decreasing stigma and “understanding that help is available and it works.”
