School drops plan to build track at arena

The town’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee has learned Minto Clifford Public School is no  longer interested in pursing a track at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre property.

Minutes of the April 22 PRAC meeting state the school contacted town staff to advise them they are currently considering building a track at the school where it would be “most beneficial.”

A staff report presented at the same meeting indicated some requests have been received from the community asking the town to consider a BMX track in Minto. Options will be reviewed and discussed at the next meeting.

The PRAC committee also authorized staff to pursue an agreement with the Palmerston Snow Kings that would permit them to use the newly acquired rail lands between Greenbush and Clifford as a snowmobile trail.
