FERGUS – On Feb. 8 Fergus Highland Rugby Club hosted a skills session with international rugby star Ben Tameifuna.

The captain of the Tonga National Rugby Team and a prop forward with Bordeaux Bègles in France’s Top 14, Tameifuna ran a skills session at the Marden Fieldhouse that attracted high school rugby players from Centre Wellington, Guelph, Milton and Brampton. Temeifuna later joined Highland senior members in viewing the Six Nations rugby matches at the Brewhouse on the Grand and the Goofie Newfie Pub.

Highland Rugby is hosting “Give it a Try” sessions through February and March at the Marden Fieldhouse. These sessions allow kids of all ages to try out rugby, and are supervised by Highland coaches and players. There is no cost to attend and everyone is encouraged to come out and try the sport.

Details for the events and 2024 registration can be found at highlandrugby.com.
