Ross-Zuj named to board of national lobby group

Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj was re-elected to the board of directors at the annual Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Conference here on the weekend.

Ross-Zuj is one of 16 members representing the Ontario caucus.

The FCM board is made up of elected municipal officials and affiliate members from all regions and communities across Canada. It meets quarterly to discuss municipal issues, set policy priorities, and is a support system for municipalities bringing their messages to the federal government.

In January, Ross-Zuj was elected to the FCM board of directors, Ontario caucus, to complete the 2010-2011.

“It is a great honour to be re-elected to the FCM national board of directors by my Ontario peers,” said Ross-Zuj.

“As the county’s representative on the board, I am proud to be an advocate for Ontario and Wellington. I look forward to working directly with other municipal leaders from across Canada on key issues.”

“The County of Wellington is pleased to support Councillor Ross-Zuj’s involvement with the FCM Board of Directors,” said Warden Chris White. “With Joanne’s re-election, the county will continue to be well represented at a national level.”

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities was established in 1901, and has more than 1,600 members.
