Rockwood fire station battled two fires

A vehicle fire on April 7 in Guelph-Eramosa is being treated as suspicious.

The fire occurred at about 3:30am on the Eramosa-Milton Townline near Highway 7, southeast of Rockwood.

“There was an abandoned vehicle that was adjacent to a couple of small structures on an unoccupied lot,” said  Guelph-Eramosa deputy fire chief Jim Petrik. “We were able to extinguish the fire without extension to the structures.”

The fire was called in by someone on the way to work.

Only the Rockwood station attended the scene but Petrik said the Halton Regional Police Service was notified and was conducting an investigation.

Bush fire

On April 9 the Rockwood fire station attended a bush fire on the 7th Line between Wellington Road 124 and Sideroad 20, north of Everton.

“The homeowner was burning some brush in his fire pit and the wind got it away from him,” Petrik said.

“The fire extended a short way into the adjacent bush, but was able to be extinguished quickly.”
