Road Watch launches with family-friendly event

The  Safe Community Committee (S.C.C.) of Minto is planning a launch of the Minto ROAD WATCH program here on June 9, at the Harriston Arena.

The event will include a children’s Road Safety poster contest, a Bike Rodeo supported by the Minto Optimist Club, and a Child Seat/Restraint Clinic, held in partnership with Co-operators Insurance.  Members of the OPP Mounted Unit and motorcycle unit will be there. The OPP will bring their roll over simulator for the public to see.

The opening ceremony takes place at  10:30am.

The Minto Optimist Club will be running a food booth and there will be balloons for the kids and free promotional items for those attending the event. The Bike Rodeo begins at 9am in the parking lot beside the Curling Club, (inside if it rains). The winning boy and girl will receive a new bicycle.

The Child Seat Belt/Restraint Clinic will run from 9am to 1pm in the arena parking lot. Each appointment takes about a half an hour to complete and you can book an appointment by calling Marilyn Koch at 519-343-5770.
