Report: 2012 Erin Home Show posts modest profit

ERIN – Town finance director Sharon Marshall has indicated this year’s home show in Erin managed a small profit.

In her report to council on July 17, Marshall said it appeared there was a $524 surplus, “but I can’t confirm all the invoices are in.”

Show revenues, including booth and admission fees, totalled $10,558, while expenses, including use of Centre 2000, were $10,016.

Prepayments for next year’s show are $2,388.

Councillor Barb Tocher asked whether the operation grant to the former economic development committee (which had sponsored the event) was included in the report.

Marshall noted the budget process this year had actually anticipated a $3,000 deficit. But this year there was a surplus, she said.

In 2011, the show came in with a deficit of $1,686. Last year expenses totalled $13,922 while this year that amount was only $10,016.

“I noticed expenses were down considerably,” Tocher said.
