Rae appointed parliamentary assistant to minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing

TORONTO – Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae’s parliamentary assignment has changed from education to municipal affairs and housing.

Rae, elected for the first time in 2022, was appointed parliamentary assistant to the minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on March 10.

“It is a great honour to serve the people of Perth-Wellington and Ontario in this role,” Rae stated in a press release.

“As a first-time homeowner and one of the youngest members of the government caucus, I know firsthand the pressing need to build more homes.”

Following his election last spring, Rae was named one of two parliamentary assistants to education minister Stephen Lecce.

Parliamentary assistants help their respective minister with legislative duties, but can also assist with policy formation.

In reference to his new role, Rae said he looks forward to working with Premier Doug Ford, municipal affairs and housing minister Steve Clark and others in the ministry “on getting more homes built in every community across Ontario.”
