Quilt made from donated denim

The answer to the question “Sew what?” lies in the fact that location donations of denim will make an even bigger impact to the local community.

A quilt has been created by an East Wellington Community Services’s volunteer from denim jeans that were donated to the New To You Stores.

Materials were double washed and cut apart, using a design inspired from the shapes of pockets, labels, zippers, stitched-in designs and colours.

Those materials were then machine quilted and the backing and filling are new materials.

The quilt fits a twin size bed but can also serve as a cozy sofa blanket.

Now on display at Alice’s Quilt Shoppe in Erin, the quilt will be in a few other locations until it is raffled on Aug. 25.

Tickets are $2 and are available at Alice’s and the New to You store from now until Aug. 25.

Proceeds help support the programs and services of East Wellington Community Services.
