Puslinch officials are encouraged by a recent meeting they had with Minister of Transportation Jim Bradley about the Highway 6 realignment around Morriston.

“It was a very positive meeting,” councillor Susan Fielding said on March 4.

She told council Bradley was sympathetic and realized the need for the project, since he has had past experiences driving on the highway.

Fielding said Bradley confirmed the MTO has included the Highway 6 project in discussions about its five year plan.

She hopes, she added, that the plan will be finalized soon - and include Highway 6.

Councillor Matthew Bulmer said the recent approval of the environmental assessment for the project was “a very important moment” for Puslinch Township.

For decades the municipality has lobbied for the bypass. Bulmer also called Fielding very modest and lauded her efforts in dealing with government officials.

“You rose to the occasion with a level of professionalism I don’t think they see a lot from municipal representatives,” Bulmer said.
