Public meeting in Arthur to focus on growth, housing, development

WELLINGTON NORTH – The township here is hosting a public information session to facilitate discussions surrounding growth in the community and to generate awareness of what is to come.

“We are now seeing significant housing growth in our municipality, and this will continue for many years to come,” township economic development officer Dale Small stated in a report to council about the approaching session.

To be held on April 13 in the lower hall of the Arthur and Area Community Centre (158 Domville Street), the growth, housing and development session fits into the larger mission of the township’s Community Growth Plan, initiated in 2017, according to Small.

He cautioned against losing sight of what impact growth will have on employment and the need for housing options for incoming workers.

“Ensuring we have a variety of housing options in order that these workers can live in our community is also a key priority,” Small stated.

Staff will present on:

– housing challenges and solutions;

– the ongoing county Municipal Comprehensive Review;

– the township’s growth plan, development updates, impact of sewage allocation, and attainable housing.

A questions and answer session will follow.

The meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

“This information session will enable us to continue the discussion within the community as well as among staff and council,” Small stated.

Registration is not required.
