WELLINGTON COUNTY – Public health officials are encouraging local residents to book flu and COVID-19 vaccinations this fall to stay protected during the coming respiratory illness season.
“Flu and COVID-19 can cause serious illness, particularly for young children, older adults and people with underlying health conditions,” stated Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, associate medical officer of health, in an Oct. 1 press release.
“Getting vaccinated is a simple step that helps protect not only your health, but also the health of your family, friends and community.
“I strongly encourage everyone to get their flu and COVID-19 shots this season.”
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) will offer vaccine clinics starting on Oct. 14.
And “many pharmacies and primary care providers will also have appointments in the coming weeks,” stated WDGPH officials.
“Everyone six months of age and older is eligible, and both vaccines can be received safely in one visit.”
WDGPH appointments can be booked online now at wdgpublichealth.ca/appointments.
Residents who need help booking or have questions about the vaccines can call 1-800-265-7293 ext. 7006.
This year, the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine is also free for people aged 75 and older who have not yet received it.
Those interested should call their doctor or public health.
