FERGUS – The Ontario government is providing the Fergus Curling Club with $197,000 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream.
“Our government believes that organizations like the Fergus Curling Club, the longest continually operating curling club in Ontario, play a vital role as a social hub for residents of Fergus and the surrounding area,” stated Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Joseph Racinsky in a July 22 press release.
“That’s why I am proud to see that they are receiving capital funding support.”
He added, “These funds will allow the Fergus Curling Club to replace ice-making equipment and help support their continued success.”
OTF’s Capital grant stream helps organizations improve infrastructure such as purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs.
“The Fergus Curling Club is thrilled and honoured to receive the grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation,” stated Fergus Curling Club president Dan Dyson.
“The grant enables us to continue flourishing for many more years.”
The capital grant is part of more than $28 million supporting 300 local programs and services that help deliver community programming across the province, officials say.
