Pro football player to visit Fergus school
By Robin George
GUELPH – Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Clark Barnes will be in Fergus later this month to talk to kids about the importance of finding a purpose in life.
Barnes recently signed on for his fourth year with the Stampeders.
When he visits St. Joseph Catholic School in Fergus on Feb. 27, Barnes is set to speak with students in Grades 6 through 8 about his story as well as Black heroes who inspired him with their drive and the sacrifices they made for the bigger picture.
Clark’s father, Trevor Barns, moved to Canada with his family from the Caribbean island of Antigua and Barbuda when he was six years old.
Clark was born and raised in Brampton and attended Marguerite D’Youville Catholic School before heading to the University of Maine, where he received a full scholarship to play football.
He then went on to study at the University of Guelph, where he played football from 2019 to 2023 before signing with the Stampeders in 2023.
