Wellington- Halton Hills MP Michael Chong is one of two speakers who will be talking at an event organized by the Guelph-Wellington chapter of Fair Vote Canada.
The event will be held on April 6 between 2 and 4pm at Saint James The Apostle Church at 85 Glasgow Street North and will also feature speaker Professor Brian Tanguay.
Chong will be speaking on his private member’s bill, commonly known as The Reform Act, aimed at restoring local control over party candidate nominations, strengthening caucus as a decision-making body and reinforcing the accountability of party members to caucuses.
Tanguay, a member of Fair Vote Canada, Waterloo Region will be speaking on proportional representation, an electoral system where most votes count toward electing a representative and the percentage of seats a party receives in the legislature roughly matches its popular support.
Both Chong and Tanguay will speak separately and take questions on their respective issues. There will be an chance for one-on-one questions.
