Police seek information about suspicious fire

- Coun­ty OPP officers are seek­ing the public’s help to deter­mine the origin of a suspicious fire.

OPP Constable Mark Cloes reported that on June 19 at about 4am, county OPP officers were called to assist the Map­leton Fire Department with a suspicious structure fire at the Moorefield baseball diamond.

Cloes said police receiv­ed a call that the booth for the announ­cer, as well as the lighting and wiring equipment were engulf­ed in flames. A damage esti­mate has not been determined.

Cloes said the OPP are ask­ing anyone with informa­tion regarding the incident to con­tact Constable Melissa Tutin at the Palmerston OPP office at 519-343-5770 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip on-line at www.crimestoppers-wellington.com.
