Police investigating after bullet crashed through Mount Forest restaurant

MOUNT FOREST – Customers at the A&W here got quite a shock on Saturday afternoon when a bullet crashed through the window of the restaurant.

Wellington County OPP officers responded to “a weapons incident” at the Mount Forest eatery on Main Street North at about 4pm on Aug. 22.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that a single projectile, which is believed to be a bullet, pierced the window of a restaurant and came to rest on the floor,” police stated in a press release.

There were customers and staff inside the restaurant at the time, but no one was injured, police say.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety at this time,” states the release.

Police say officers canvassed homes in the surrounding rural area and were advised someone was possibly target shooting around the same time the incident occurred.

Wellington County OPP and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate.
