Police beat: Vehicle stolen overnight

ELORA – Police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen from a driveway here last week.

Wellington County OPP officials say officers responded to a home on Patrick Boulevard on July 17 at about 6:30am.

“It was reported that at 12am, the victim had left their vehicle in their … driveway … on Patrick Boulevard,” police stated in a press release.

The victim later woke up to  discover their vehicle had been stolen, police say.

The vehicle is a black 2023 Lexus RX350 SUV with Ontario Plate CYVT129. It had red brake calipers, matte black rims and a red interior.

Police are asking the public to check their dash-cam and home video footage on or near Patrick Boulevard in Elora between 12 and 6:30am on July 17.

Distracted speeding

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On July 17 at about 8:30am, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 16.

Police say the officer observed a vehicle that appeared to be travelling above the posted speed limit. 

A 57-year-old Milton driver was charged with speeding (at least 50km/h over the limit)  and using a handheld communication device while driving. The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Partner violence

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.

Those arrested include a 22-year-old from Guelph/Eramosa, who was charged with domestic mischief and two counts of assault (spousal) in relation to an incident in Guelph/Eramosa on July 12.

The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
