Police Beat: Thief gets munchies?

DUFFERIN COUNTY – OPP officials here have laid multiple charges as a result of a stolen vehicle investigation.

On Nov. 13 shortly after 7:30am, officers received a report about a pickup truck with an attached horse trailer that was stolen from an address on 20th Sideroad in Amaranth Township.

Police say a couple of hours later the truck and trailer were observed at a fast food chain in Orangeville. 

“Officers responded quickly and located the vehicle and the suspect in the restaurant’s parking lot,” states a Dufferin County OPP press release. 

“After speaking with the suspect, officers were led into an impaired operation investigation.”

Jessica Culshaw, 38, of Grand Valley, was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in her system, vehicle theft over $5,000, theft over $5,000, driving with cannabis readily available, mischief (destroy or damage property) and driving while suspended.

The accused is to appear in Orangeville court on Nov.  29.

Unsafe lane change

GUELPH – On Nov. 16 at about 5:30pm Wellington County OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on the Hanlon Expressway North here. 

Police say a semi-tractor  livestock-trailer collided with another vehicle.

A 22-year-old driver from Guelph was charged with making an unsafe lane change. A 23-year-old commercial operator from Harriston was charged with failing to turn left to avoid a collision.

Both drivers were issued offence notices.

Prohibited driver

GUELPH – On Nov. 12 at about 5pm a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a blue SUV on Maltby Road West here.

A 36-year-old driver from  Kitchener was charged with driving while prohibited and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

No insurance

FERGUS – On Nov. 13 at about 3:30pm, Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a white SUV on Bridge Street here.

A 21-year-old driver from Palmerston was charged with driving without insurance and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

GUELPH – On Nov. 10 at about 10:45am, Wellington County OPP stopped the operator of a white sedan on Woodlawn Road west here.

A 52-year-old driver from Guelph was charged with driving without insurance and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
