Police beat: Stolen motorcycles

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On Nov. 15 at about 3:15am, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a break-in at Two Wheel Motorsport on Highway 6 here.

“Surveillance captured three people entering the business and stealing three Yamaha motorcycles,” police stated in a press release.

Police say the value of the property stolen has been estimated at about $30,000.

Car wash theft, damage

HARRISTON – On Nov. 17, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a break-in at a car wash here.

“It was reported that a suspect damaged equipment and stole a quantity of cash,” police stated.

Another car wash incident

FERGUS – On Nov. 25  Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a theft from a car wash on St. David Street North here.

Police say that at about  1:20am “a suspect cut into a change machine, causing extensive damages, and stole a quantity of change (currency).”

Police say the damage to equipment is reported at $30,000.

The suspect was wearing jeans, grey boots, a black coat and a black balaclava on his face.

Theft via rooftop

FERGUS – Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a break-in at a business here on Nov. 28.

Police say that sometime between 11pm on Nov. 27 and 5am on Nov. 28, “suspects entered the business by forcing entry from the roof. 

“They then stole cigarettes, vape pens (E-cigarettes), currency and lottery tickets. Estimated damages and losses are still pending. The investigation continues.”

Weapon, probation charges

FERGUS – On Nov. 21, Wellington County OPP received information regarding an individual who was possibly breaching a probation order. 

“Officers located the subject of the complaint on Strathallan Street in Fergus, and subsequently placed them under arrest,” police stated in a press release.

Shawn Irwin Barret Dyer, 33, of Chesley, was charged with three counts of failing to comply with probation order, failure to comply with an undertaking and unauthorized possession of a weapon. 

He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

‘Parking infractions’

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Nov. 22 Wellington County OPP responded to multiple bylaw complaints on streets in Centre Wellington. 

“It was reported that numerous vehicles had been parked on roads between the hours of [2 and 6am] and that those vehicles were impeding the removal of snow from the roadway,” police stated in a press release.

Police say 55 vehicles were “served with certificate of parking infractions” for parking between 2 and 6am, from Nov. 1 to March 31.

Unsafe vehicle

GUELPH – On Nov. 3 at about 9pm a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a red van on Speedvale Avenue East.

A 33-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with driving an unsafe vehicle, having a defective horn, failing to surrender a permit, having defective brakes, making an unsafe manoeuvre, having a non-secure load and failing to surrender an insurance card. 

The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Driving charges

BELWOOD – On Nov. 5 at about 3:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a white pickup truck on Broadway Street here.

A 45-year-old driver from Halton Hills was charged with driving while suspended, driving without plates, two counts of failing to apply for a permit and driving without insurance. 

The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Unauthorized plates

FERGUS – On Nov. 7 at about 11am, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a blue motorcycle on St. Patrick Street West here.

A 26-year-old driver from Fergus was charged with driving while suspended, using unauthorized plates, driving an unsafe vehicle and driving  without insurance.

The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Suspended driver

GUELPH – On Nov. 20 at about 11pm, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a black coupe on College Avenue East here.

An 18-year-old driver from Guelph was charged with two counts of driving while suspended and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

No permit, no insurance

WELLINGTON NORTH – On Nov. 23 at about 3:45pm, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped the driver of a white pickup truck on Wellington Road 109, near Arthur. 

A 46-year-old driver from Belwood was charged with driving while suspended, driving without a valid permit and driving without insurance.

The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
