Police beat: Residents charged in drug bust

FERGUS – Two Fergus residents have been charged following a drug bust here last week.

On July 13, Wellington County OPP officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Courtney Street in Fergus. 

Police say officers seized “a quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency,” valued at over $8,700. 

Darren Diljee, 38, and Ceilidh Cooper, 29, both of Fergus, were each charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a Schedule III substance (psilocybin) and possession of a Schedule I substance (oxycodone).

Both are scheduled to appear in Guelph court on Sept. 5. 

Weapon, assault charges

MOUNT FOREST – On July 10 at about 10:30pm, Wellington County OPP responded to reports of a disturbance on Queen Street West here.

Police say a person threatened an individual with a weapon and “officers were subsequently able to identify and locate the person involved. “

Chester Mackenzie Lewis, 21, of Mount Forest, was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a prohibited device.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
