Police beat: ‘prowler’ charged

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – On Nov. 13 at about 4:30am, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a prowler in the area of Cross Creek Boulevard here, north of Guelph.

Police say someone spotted “a suspicious person” checking the doors of vehicles parked in driveways. Police responded and arrested a suspect in the area.

Matthew Kochan, 48, of Guelph, was charged with trespassing at night. He is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 15.

Drug charges

HARRISTON – On Nov. 10 at about 2pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was conducting patrols in the area of Arthur Street West here.

Police say the officer spotted a person believed to be wanted by another police service.

“After a brief foot chase, the suspect was arrested by police,” states an OPP press release. A search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).

Paul Reeves, 49, of Mount Forest, was charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of LSD for the purpose of trafficking.

He is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 18.
