Pair charged in theft

MAPLETON – On April 7 at about 11:30am, Wellington County OPP received a report of a theft from a business on Wellington Road 8 near Drayton.

Police say that at about 9am two suspects entered the store and stole some Dewalt product power tools and cordless tool batteries.

On April 13, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sideroad 10 North in Puslinch Township.

Police say officers located an unoccupied vehicle that contained a quantity of drugs believed to be methamphetamines and stolen property.

John Garrett Winer, 34, and Shayla Dawn Colby, 33, both of Puslinch, were  charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of identity document and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine). Winer was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

Both are to appear in Guelph court  at a later date.

Meth charge

NORTH PERTH – A Mount Forest resident is facing a drug charge after a traffic stop here last week.

On May 19 just after 2am Perth County OPP officers were conducting general patrols on Road 164, north of Listowel, when an officer stopped a vehicle for an alleged driving infraction.

Shaunnice White, 23, of Mount Forest, was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine) and failing to stop at a stop sign. The accused is to appear in Stratford court at a later date.

Drug charge

ELORA – A local man has been charged following a drug bust here last week.

On May 19, 2021, members of the Wellington County OPP officers, aided by the Community Street Crime Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence in Elora.

“Upon entering the residence, officers seized a quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and stolen property,” police stated in a press release.

Mitchell Johnathon Horne, 29, of Elora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused is to appear in Guelph court on June 22.
