Police beat: OPP seeks clues about copper wire theft in Minto

MINTO – Police are asking for help to identify the suspect(s) involved in a recent copper wire theft.

On Sept. 21 at about 6:30pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to the report of a theft at a business on the 12th Line in former Minto Township.

Police say that sometime between 11pm on Sept. 19 and 9am on Sept. 21, “one or more unknown suspects attended the property and stole several thousand dollars worth of copper wire.”

No ignition lock

FERGUS – On Sept. 19 at about 3:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers were on proactive patrol when they initiated a traffic stop on St. David Street North.

A 48-year-old man from Fergus was charged with driving while suspended, two counts of driving while suspended and two counts of driving a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device. 

He is to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 8.
