Police beat: One person dead after serious crash in Puslinch

PUSLINCH – One person is dead following a serious collision at the intersection of Wellington Road 32 and Concession 4 here.

Emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle crash at about 11:30am on Nov. 17.

Wellington County OPP officials say “a commercial motor vehicle had left the roadway and caught on fire,” adding the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not immediately release the name of the deceased driver.

Wellington Road 32, between Forestell Road and Wellington Road 34, will likely remain closed for a few hours for the investigation.

Fergus driver charged after vehicle hits pedestrian, infant in stroller

FERGUS – It appears serious injuries were avoided, but a senior driver has been charged after a vehicle ran into a pedestrian and an infant in a stroller here on Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded to the collision, at a crosswalk on Garafraxa Street West in Fergus, on Nov. 14 at about 2pm.

“It was reported that a pedestrian and an infant were struck while crossing the street by a silver [SUV],” states a Nov. 16 press release from the Wellington County OPP.

“Emergency service responded and treated the pedestrian at the scene; the infant was secured in the turned-over stroller, uninjured.”

A 72-year-old driver from Fergus was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
