POLICE BEAT: Harriston man accused of trying to run car off road

MINTO – Police have charged a Harriston teen they say tried to force another driver off the road here last week.

On March 12 just after midnight, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a dangerous driving incident earlier in the evening in Minto.

Police say a vehicle was travelling north on White’s Road when a second vehicle, also travelling north, “attempted to force it off the roadway.”

Trevor Hoffele, 19, of Harriston, was charged with dangerous driving and is to appear in court on April 16.

Driver dies after crash

WELLINGTON NORTH – One of the drivers involved in a head-on collision near Arthur last week has died.

On March 6, just after midnight, emergency crews responded to the crash, involving a tractor trailer and an SUV, at Wellington Road 109 and Sideroad 16A.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Glen Gary Nix, 72, of Orangeville, died in hospital, police stated in a press release. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.
