Police beat: Elora resident fined for public intoxication

ELORA – On June 16 at approximately 11pm, Wellington OPP officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the complainant’s yard. 

The person was located in the middle of McNab Street West. 

As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old Elora resident was issued a provincial offence notice for public intoxication.    

Failure to remain 

WELLINGTON NORTH – On June 17 at approximately 8am, Wellington OPP officers located a single motor vehicle in the ditch on Highway 6 in Wellington North. 

An investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle had failed to report a collision. 

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Durham resident has been charged with Careless Driving and Fail to Remain. 

The defendant is scheduled to appear before provincial offences court on Sept. 13.

Multiple charges

FERGUS – On June 23 at approximately 11:45pm, a Wellington OPP officer conducted a traffic stop of  a motor vehicle on St. David Street in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Burlington man has been charged with Driving while under Suspension, Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Drive Motor Vehicle – no currently validated permit, and with Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph on Sept. 13.
