Police beat: Cannabis, tobacco, other charges

CALEDON – On May 6 at about 9:26am, Caledon OPP officers located a vehicle occupied by two individuals on Chinguacousy Road here.

As a result of the police investigation, the occupants, David Jansen, 52, of Erin, and Michael Miller, 30, of Milton, were arrested and charged with the following offences:

- possession of break-in instruments;

- possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000;

- possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling; and

- possession unmarked fine cut tobacco.

Both men are to appear in Orangeville court on July 19.

Slew of charges for Guelph man, woman

FERGUS – On April 27 at about 9:30am, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a vehicle for an alleged driving offence on Garafraxa Street here.

Police say officers determined one of the occupants was wanted by police and a  search of the vehicle revealed break-in tools, two prohibited weapons, suspected drugs and various pieces of stolen identification.

Dylan Kingscote-Jones, 32, of Guelph, was charged with possession of break-in tools, possession of an unauthorized credit card, possession of a Schedule 2 substance, failing to comply with an undertaking, possession of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a weapon and obstructing a licence plate.

Jodi Vanessa Hopkins, 34, of Guelph, was charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of break-in tools and possession of property obtained by crime.

Both are to appear in Guelph court on May 25.

Drug, theft charges

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On April 26 just after 10pm, Huron-Perth and Wellington County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on 6th Line here, after a drug trafficking investigation.

Police say the two occupants of the vehicle were found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and suspected hydromorphone, as well as a number of memorial plaques later determined to be stolen.

The total estimated value of the drugs is approximately $1,800.

Kevin Harper, 28, of Grand Valley, and Shandy-Lee Gibson, 33, of Palmerston, were each charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine and other drugs) and possession of property obtained by crime.

They were released from custody and are to appear in Stratford court at a later date.

Break-in, theft

WELLINGTON NORTH – On May 2 at about 12:30pm Wellington County OPP received a report of a break-in at a new home construction site on Highway 89 east of Mount Forest.

Police say that sometime between April 30 at 5pm and  May 2 at 10am, someone gained entry into the building by prying open a rear door and stole  Dewalt and Bosch tools.
