Police arrest one of three suspects in truck, trailer theft

On May 17 suspects stole four pickup trucks, two trailers valued at $300,000 from a landscaping company

MAPLETON – Police have arrested and charged one of three suspects wanted for stealing trucks and trailers valued at $300,000 from a business here.

Wellington County OPP officials say that on May 17, at 4:10 and 10:10am, three suspects stole four pickup trucks and two trailers from a landscaping company on Wellington Road 86 in Mapleton Township.

“The vehicles have all been recovered and returned to the owner,” states a May 27 OPP press release.

The release notes the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit worked with Waterloo Regional Police to arrest one suspect.

Roy Tanner Cameron Jenkins, 39, of Waterloo, was charged with two counts of theft over $5,000 as well as possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000), driving while prohibited and public mischief.

He is to appear in Guelph court on July 28.

“This investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available,” police stated.
