City police here are asking residents everywhere to not leave their pets locked in a hot vehicle.

Sergeant Douglas Pflug reported that over the past week of June 13 to 22, city police responded to 15 calls for service where dogs were locked in hot vehicles.

There have also been several incidents in Toronto where animals died in overheated vehicles and dogs’ owners have been charged.

Pflug added that anyone seeing an animal locked in a vehicle in hot weather should call their local police service.
