Rumours circulating the community that a Mission Trip to Peru is in jeopardy after a break-in two weeks ago at the Drayton United Church are completely untrue, said the church’s Pastor last week.
Jeff McCracken confirmed on Monday that money taken during the break-in on Jan. 11 or 12 was indeed pegged for the Peru trip, but it was just a small quantity of change.
The money, which was collected as part of the church’s “Pennies for Peru” fundraising campaign, probably totalled between $100 and $200, McCracken said.
The March trip to an orphanage in Peru is still going ahead as planned, he added.
Twenty-one local volunteers will take part in the trip.
