Party in the Park returning to Rockwood July 30

ROCKWOOD – The Township of Guelph/Eramosa is gearing up for its eighth annual Party in the Park July 30 from 5 to 10pm at Rockmosa Park.

This free community event continues to be a summer highlight, bringing together neighbours, families, local organizations and visitors for an evening packed with live entertainment, family fun, great food, and community spirit, officials say. 

“Party in the Park is one of those special community events that brings people together to celebrate everything that makes Guelph/Eramosa such a great place to call home,” stated Mayor Chris White in a news release. 

“It’s an opportunity for neighbours, friends and families to connect, enjoy local entertainment and create lasting memories. 

“On behalf [council], I want to thank our volunteers, sponsors, organizers and community partners whose hard work makes this event possible. We look forward to welcoming everyone for a fun-filled evening in the park.”

This year’s event will feature live entertainment on the main stage, with a lineup featuring a mix of live music and interactive entertainment such as:

– The Generals Tavern from 5 to 6:30pm;

– line dancing instruction with Becca  from 6:45 to 7:15pm; and

–  The Flamingos from 7:30 to 9:30pm.

Families with young children can also can enjoy a full evening of performances and interactive experiences such as:

–  Noah Nogueira Circus Entertainment from 6 to 6:30pm and 7 to 7:30pm;

–  Noah Nogueira Interactive Comedy-Juggling Show from 8:30 to 9pm;

–  photo booth fun and prizes with Guelph Spiderman and friends from 5 to 7:30pm and  8:30 to 9pm; and

– Miss T the Bubble Queen from 6 to 6:45pm and 8 to 8:45pm. 

Additional attractions will include inflatable mazes, obstacle courses and slides, face painting, crafts, train rides, mini golf, touch-a-truck experiences, splash pad access and other family-friendly activities.

Returning this year, the always-popular Wiener Dog Races are scheduled from 5 to 7pm, giving spectators opportunity to cheer on their favourite four-legged competitors. 

Following the races, children and youth can participate in a superhero training experience with Guelph Spiderman from 7:30 to 8:30pm.

Visitors can also try axe throwing, yard and carnival games, and explore interactive displays from local organizations. Community organizations will teach about fire safety and guests can learn about local environmental and water protection initiatives.

Attendees can browse a 15-vendor artisan market, and visit food trucks and a licensed beverage area.

The event will conclude with a fireworks display at approximately 9:45pm.
